Smell the Roofing Tar

You know that feeling, when summer is here and everything gets a face-lift, when the smell of tar fills the warm air all around you, change is in the air? Hey, that is what was all around us today here in my little corner of universe–not that I am complaining. I like the change, and all the new things that come along with it. Since I have lived here, the little town of Fort Langley has gone through many such changes, albeit some small and hardly noticeable, to eye catching, hit-you-in-the-face changes that make it on the front page of the local paper, but in all, I feel is change is good. I am glad that the old town will keep it’s heritage look, and a good thing too, because that seems to be what people want–especially the movie industry. When I saw the workers stripping the siding of the main building on Glover Road, I was sceptical at first, but when I saw how rotten the wood was on the 80-plus year old building, I knew then that it needed it. But it also gave me a chance to see some of the history of the building, and how it was put together, but also I could sort of get an idea what the building looked like, such as the styles and colours it had throughout the years. It was a rare opportunity to see the past like that. It will be nice to see the place fixed up.
