They look like broken heart flowers, and I have been told that these are called Bleeding Heart flowers, nonetheless, they look very interesting. I was actually walking by the Lombardy RV Park Laundromat when I spotted these by one of the buildings. I got permission to shoot them becuase these were on private property–better safe than sorry. It was worth the effort.
Apparently, when the flowers are first formed they look like hearts, then they split open and the smaller white part of the flower pops out, usually as the day warms up. These were fun to photograph. Shot with my Sony A33, using a 30mm macro lens. The flowers are about 1 to 1.5cm long–top to bottom.
If anyone could correct me, or confirm the flower’s species name, that would be awesome.
