The Rusty Effect

I chuckled to myself after I rendered this 3D image in Blender. “Yes, this is how I feel – right now,” I thought to myself. That kind of “getting old feeling,” from, well, getting old. I guess also from just having a birthday not to long ago, did not make matters better, as I see the years racing by, as I watched this image render away. The image took about twenty minutes to complete, which is lots of time to think as I wait. “Oh my, eeewww, I am now the stuff of oldness, of old people, the spent generation,” I chuckle to myself. So, once the image rendered, I looked at it for a while, imagining what to call it. “Rust, barnacles, mould,” all came to mind, but it was suppose to be hair!

Well, judge for yourself:

Rusty TOM - small image

I think “rust” best suits the image as part of my artistic expressionism goes. I am doing another one with totally different settings, trying to achieve the hair like qualities that I want, but these things take a lot of time to render. Well, I am going to bed–big day tomorrow. Night!

The Mouldy Tom - small image

This was closer to what I wanted, but not quite. I wanted hair growing from all surfaces on the text, but the render time was too long. This image (above) took two hours. I have a plan for the next time I want create furry text. Stay tuned.
