Another time change is upon us now, and yes, another rant about it. However, this year, from our Government, I thought a change was in the works, to get rid of it–for once and for all. I was under the impression that our Government was going to at least consider the thought of abolishing it, but in the last week, the leader flip-flopped, saying he never considered it. But, in general, I do not care for it–I hate changing the time back and forth.
I actually voted in the last provincial election on this topic. Abolishing the Daylight Savings Time rules, was the deciding factor for me choosing this Government. I thought, there is hope that we were one step closer to keeping Standard Time all year round. I knew this was a long shot, at best, so I was not to terribly disappointed that the Government threw this out, it was just typical. I just was not ready for the explanation our leader answered, as he explained his position on not changing Daylight Savings. Something like, “… if the States are not doing it, then why should we, … the business community has a say in this too.” So sad.
Now that I am living back up North, and I do mean way further North than the Lower Mainland near Vancouver, BC, losing that hour has more of an impacted today than it did at my old home. Sure, we are now in “normal time,” but my body will feel it tomorrow at work. The Sun now sits lower in the sky, so playing with time has more effect on the day than it did when I was living further South. But my body is not agreeing with it–period.
Already, and we are only one day into it, and my sleep Patten is not agreeing with the time change. I have no idea what I will feel when I start the work week tomorrow. I wish my Government had a spine; next election then. Rant–over.
ADDED: Nov 8, 2018. On CBC News, a news article said that California is one step closer to abolishing the time changes, however, staying with Daylight Savings rather than normal time. In the article, a SUF professor says “being out of step with California time would be ‘quite disruptive.'” Basically saying that for the same reason that the British Columbia NDP leader gave for staying with the time changes, moving the clocks twice a year for the proposes of businesses and commerce, he maybe forced to change his tune. So this means that the three West Coast States, and the European Union, moving to stop the Time Change, Canada and British Columbia maybe forced to follow after all. To bad Canada, or BC, could be a leader on this.

USA, California, has my vote!
