First Winter Storm of 2020 in Thornhill, BC.

Well, it was just a matter of time of when it would come and pay us a visit. Mother Nature gave her Wrath and full fury, last night in the Skeena Valley with at least 30cm of powder snow, and wild wind. I sat helpless wondering if I was going to get home without getting stuck in the snow, in my car. Looking back, I did make it with little troubles. Except for the very last final 3 meters. when I saw that a 2 meter high snow bank had formed from the North wind. I got out the shovel and a way I went.

After the shoveling and being soaked from playing in the snow, I gave up and  went inside, giving up on all the things I had planned for the Friday night. This was going to be a stay-at-home night.

The weather prognosticators say that the second half of the storm will reach us tonight, giving us another 20cm of the white stuff, followed with more winds from the North. Oh goodie gum drops, something to look forward too.

UPDATE – JAN 6, 2020. The secdon half of the storm did dump upon us, but a mere 27cm. however, none of the roads in Lower Thornhill, BC were plowed. I guess we did not pay the Regional District enough tax money for this vital service?

I must to give credit to my car, and the snow tires I have on it. I own a 2014 Ford Focus, with Arctic Claws tires, and they work awesome in the this type of weather. I would be still getting home is it was not for those tires.

OK, back to shoveling and moving the white stuff.
